Cone Beam Computed Tomography

Our J Morita Veraviewepocs F40 Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Scanner allows us to image the inside, and around your tooth in 3D. This greatly enhances diagnostic accuracy. This digital imaging system enables us to visualize complete root canal anatomy and surrounding bone by taking slices through the tissues. This enhances our ability to predict what is inside the tooth, and disease around the tooth can be more accurately diagnosed. This leads to enhanced treatment planning and the ability to target treatment where it is necessary, leading to quicker and easier treatment and often reducing the overall costs of treatment. Not every tooth that needs a root canal will need 3D imaging according to the American Association of Endodontists. Following their guidelines, our doctors and staff will your needs. Currently, our CBCT scanner is located in our Viera-Suntree office.

Digital Imaging

Endodontic Associates of Brevard carefully chooses which and when radiographs are taken. There are many guidelines that we follow. Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and analyze the health of your bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.A photo of an example of Digital Imaging

Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental radiographs is extremely minimal. Endodontic Associates of Brevard utilizes Digital Imaging Technologies within the office. With digital imaging, exposure time is about 90 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs. Digital imaging can also help us retrieve valuable diagnostic information. We may be able to see cavities better.

Digital imaging allows us to store patient images, and enables us to quickly and easily transfer them to specialists or insurance companies.  Digital X-rays offer more precision since we view the image on a computer monitor, instead of holding up a 35mm film up to the light.  Digital X-rays results in 1/6th the radiation exposure to you.

We have invested in the very best quality surgical microscopes, by Carl Zeiss, that provide unparalleled magnification and illumination for our surgical procedures. Our success depends on us being able to see the minutest of details – you cannot treat what you cannot see. In addition, we have incorporated the latest high definition video allowing us to record our procedures with unequalled clarity and detail.

At our office we utilize advanced electronic root-length measuring technology to insure accuracy. These instruments work by measuring and comparing resistance of tooth structure and tooth support tissue to provide a visual and audible signal to indicate precise root length.  This allows us to predictably, efficiently and accurately determine the exact location where the canal exits the tooth which is essential in cleaning and filling the entire canal. This also reduces the number of x-rays we need to take.

 

Ultrasonics

All of our treatment rooms are equipped with sophisticated ultrasonic instruments.  Ultrasonics instruments are essential in retreatment cases, post removal, and in performing precision microsurgery.  These units are used to remove obstructions from root canals, aid in the search for extra or calcified canals, and allow for precise root-end fillings in endodontic microsurgery cases.  These instruments have also increased the safety of many of our procedures and have aided in the preservation of needed tooth structure.
